Build Something is Recognition Media: a daily creative ritual that becomes a personal archive of what you noticed. Governance is how we make sure the incentives underneath it stay aligned, even at scale.
The goal is to create constraints that remain intact when success arrives.

The strongest trust protections are visible in the product itself.
Build Something contains:
- no follower counts
- no social ranking
- no performance metrics
- no public popularity systems
The platform is designed around recognition, not competition. The Daily Room is the front door, a shared prompt answered with intention. The Archive Room is the deeper layer, where what you noticed accumulates over time. Neither rewards performing for an audience.
Ownership
Your life remains yours.
Your memories remain yours. Your Build remains yours.
The platform exists to help preserve continuity, not to acquire ownership of it.
Data
We collect only what is necessary to create and preserve your Build.
Users may export their data. Users may delete their data.
Users should never wonder, "What else is happening with this?" The answer should always be obvious.
Incentives
Build Something should remain aligned with the people who trust it.
The platform is funded by members, not advertisers, so it never has to sell its users. It should resist the pressure that transforms recognition systems into extraction systems.
Current commitments include:
- founder compensation cap
- data sovereignty commitments
- non-performance architecture
- anti-extraction commitments
- long-term trust protections
Some of these commitments are already structural. Others remain stated intentions until formal governance mechanisms are established. The distinction should always be made clearly.
The founder compensation cap is evidence of the philosophy, not the philosophy itself. The philosophy is: trust remains more valuable than optimization.
Constraints
A promise and a constraint are not the same thing.
Build Something will continue identifying ways to convert important commitments into structures that are difficult, costly, public, or impossible to reverse.
Trust should not depend solely on future leadership making the right decision. It should be reinforced by the system itself.
